尾去沢の閃亜鉛鉱 Sphalerite from Osarizawa

透明感のある閃亜鉛鉱と、小粒の方鉛鉱、そして黄銅鉱とが共生する標本。母岩には細かい石英がつく。閃亜鉛鉱の一部は黄緑がかった色をしている。もっと結晶が大きかったら半貴石の域にまでたどりつけたかもしれない。尾去沢鉱山は、このようなべっこう亜鉛の産地として国内では有名である。方鉛鉱はサイズこそ微小だが、ほとんどが八面体の頂点を切り落とした形（切頂八面体）をなしており、興味深い。
A specimen of translucent sphalerite, fine galena, and chalcopyrite. Some sphalerite is yellow green. If it were bigger, it could be called a semi-precious stone. Osarizawa is famous in Japan for such cleiophane. Galena is tiny but is interesting for the shape of truncated octahedron.
