赤絵 七宝繋と四方襷文 Red Patterns

赤絵（あかえ）の線描きのみで構成されたデザインは、すっきりしてオシャレである。上下に七宝（しっぽう）つなぎ文、真ん中が四方襷（よもだすき）文。

赤絵の器は、まず透明釉をかけて本焼きしたあと、ベンガラ（酸化鉄）を主体とする絵の具で文様を描いて、赤絵窯という本焼きよりも温度の低い専用の窯で焼く。他の色絵の具をもちいた器も同様。赤絵の部分はガラス化しないので、マットな感じがする。あと二度焼きしているので、赤絵（や色絵）の器の白磁部分はちょっと乾いた感じがする。現代の陶磁器は製造法がもっと進化しているので、古伊万里よりもっときれいでいろんな色合いが出せるが、逆に「味」はない。

A simple but awesome design, composed of only red lines. The middle part is Tasuki (oblique grid) and the rest is Shippo (treasure) patterns. The red ware is first baked with transparent glaze, and some pattern is drawn with a red pigment composed of iron oxide, and finally baked in a special kiln at lower temperature. The red color is mat because the red pigment does not become vitrified. The white part of red wares looks dry probably because it is baked twice.
