染付 柴束と蛸唐草文 Bundled Brushwood & Octopus-Leg Arabesque

刈った柴を束ねたものを、いくつも向きを変えて描く。腰部は蛸唐草文様で、とくに縁どり線をかいてダミで塗り込めており、二重蛸唐草とよばれるものである。口に向かってやや末広がりの形をしている。高台内には「福」の字の銘がある。古くは17世紀中頃の古九谷の作品などに見られるもので、四角い枠があるので角福（かくふく）銘と呼ばれる。この猪口がつくられたのは18世紀はじめ（または17世紀末）とおもわれるが、この頃になると、福の字、とくに「田」の部分がだいぶ略されるようになり、その形から渦福（うずふく）と呼ばれる。

Bundles of brushwood (firewood) and outlined tako-karakusa (octopus-leg arabesque) are drawn. The symbol at the bottom reads fuku (fortune), which was often written in Kokutani ware in the mid 17th century. This cup was made in the beginning of the 18th century (or the end of the 17th century). At this age, the fuku symbol became highly simplified and looks like a vortex.
