染付 蛇籠とトンボ Gabion, Dragonfly
江戸後期 Late Edo era

ちょっとくすんだ染付で、川べりの風景を素朴なタッチで描いている。裏側にトンボが二匹飛んでいる。蛇籠［じゃかご］とは竹で編んだカゴに石を詰めて、川の護岸などにもちいたもの。具体的にどういう風景だったのかよくわからないが、古伊万里の絵柄では定番のものである（蛇籠とはなにか、ちょっと取材しました）。
この手の器をコロ茶碗とかリン茶碗という。後者の呼び名は仏壇の前のお鈴［りん］からきていると思われる。厚手で、釉がもったりとして（おそらく素焼きをしない生掛け製法）、一見してふつうの古伊万里の器とは違う。伊万里焼の中心地、有田ではなく、肥前の他の町で焼かれた品と思われる。
A riverside view is drawn with a blue glaze in a simple manner. Two dragonflies fly backside. Gabion is used to protect the sides of a river, made of stones covered by a long bamboo basket like a snake in Edo period. I don't know what it was, but gabion is a typical scenery of a river in Old Imari (see another article).
This cup is thick and the glaze is also thick (probably this omitted firing before glazing), so it looks quite different from ordinary Imari ware. This was probably a product from somewhere else other than Arita.
