瑠璃釉 亀甲文六角猪口 Blue glaze hexagonal cup

六角形（や八角形）の器というのはたまに目にするが、このような小ぶりの猪口はあまり数がない。しかも瑠璃釉で、亀甲の地紋が押されているとくれば、骨董屋も言っていたように、珍品の部類にはいろう。ろくろで丸くひいたあと、亀甲の文様が彫られた型に押しつけて、六角の器形と文様とを同時につくったもの（型打ち成形）と思われる。六つある面の境界で亀甲文様が重なっているところがあるので、一面ずつ型押ししていったのかもしれない。やや厚ぼったいが、口べりは薄く、じかに口をつけても違和感がない。酒をのむのにちょうどよい。大江戸骨董市にて。

There are some examples of hexagonal (and octahedral) Imari ware, but those of this size and shape are rare. And it is much more rare to see a cup totally covered by blue glaze with hexagonal pattern. This cup was first shaped on a wheel and pushed onto a mold with a hexagonal pattern carved. The hexagonal patterns on one and another sides overlap, implying that the above mentioned printing process was done six times. The top part of the cup is thin, which is good for drinking sake.
