染付 瓔珞文様 Ornaments

ペンダントのようなものがたくさんぶらさがったこの文様は、瓔珞（ようらく）といって、仏像の装身具や寺院の飾りを図案化したもの。古伊万里の絵柄としてはありふれているが、これは比較的ていねいに描いている（とくに猪口だともっと簡略化されているのがおおい）。口縁部の裏は四方襷、腰は袴文様、そして見込みは五弁花で、これらはすべて、18世紀に流行したのぞき猪口のお約束である。

This pattern (Yoraku in Japanese) is originated from ornaments decorating Buddhist statue and temple. This Yoraku is precisely drawn (some other Yoraku cups are rougher). The patterns at the inside of the rim and the lowest part, and the five-petal symbol at the bottom are all the routines of the 18th-century Nozoki cups.
