黄銅鉱と燐灰石 Chalcopyrite & Apatite

四面体状の黄銅鉱の単結晶はなかなか大きく、最大辺は 2 cm ほどある。表面は緑青をふいたがごとく変質しており、本来の輝きはない。そのとなりの方解石は 3 cm x 2.5 cm くらいの広い結晶面をみせておりこれもなかなか立派だ。さらに直径と高さがともに 1.2 cm くらいの柱状の燐灰石も寄り添っている。燐灰石は表面は白っぽいが、裏側の割れた断面をみると、内部は黄色味がある。母岩は磁鉄鉱が主体のようで、磁石がよく吸いつく。
A single crystal of chalcopyrite forms a tetrahedron with the side length to 2 cm, showing a greenish color because of oxidation. The neighboring calcite shows a wide crystal surface of 3 cm x 2.5 cm. There is also a cylindrical crystal of apatite with both diameter and height of 1.2 cm. The internal color of apatite is yellowish. The host rock seems to be magnetite.
アゼルバイジャン共和国の Dashkasan (Dashkesan や Daskasan の表記も / アゼルバイジャン語だと Daşkəsən) の産出品。スカルン型の鉱床を胚胎していて、コバルトや鉄を目的に採掘したらしいが、鉱物標本としては塩素燐灰石が有名のようである。ただこの標本の燐灰石がどの種類のものかは不明。それはともかく、こんな黄銅鉱の単結晶が燐灰石と並んでいると、ちょっとドキッとする。足尾銅山には熱水鉱脈型の鉱床にくわえて河鹿（かじか）とよばれる塊状交代鉱床があって、これらの鉱床では黄銅鉱のみならず燐灰石の良結晶も産したようだが、このコーカサスの標本とはちょっと雰囲気がちがう気がする。やっぱり世界は広い。
This is from Dashkasan, Azerbaijan, where cobalt and iron ores are mined from the skarn deposit. Chlorapatite is one of the specialties of Dashkasan, but I am not sure of the type of this specimen. I am impressed at this coexistence of chalcopyrite and apatite, reminding me that in Ashio mine in Japan, a kajika deposit is known to have large apatite crystals as well as chalcopyrite. However, the atmosphere is a little bit different from the Caucasian specimen. The world is big.
この標本は大塚のプラニー商会の引き出しでみつけた。ここには昔、凡地学研究社という別の標本店があったらしい（たとえばここ）が、残念ながらその時代は、東京には住んでいたがまだ鉱物あつめに火がついていなかったので知らない。
