色絵 唐獅子山水図 覗き猪口 Lion and Landscape

さいきん「ヤフオク」に古伊万里ののぞき猪口の贋作が大量に出品されていてゲンナリしている。こうした業者はニセモノと知っていながら「珍品」とか「モダンデザイン」などといつわって入札をうながしており、悪質な詐欺だとおもうが、それでも落札する人があとを絶たないのがなんともやるせない。古物愛好家の信頼を裏切る行為であり、ゆくゆくは業界の衰退をまねくだろう。

さてこの猪口は、いっぽうの面に獅子（ライオン）の図が金彩をふんだんにつかった色絵で、もう半面には山水図が染付だけでそれぞれ描かれている。おもうに、江戸時代ののぞき猪口とはお膳のアトラクション的存在だったのではなかろうか（くわしい考察（？）についてはこちらの記事を参照）。この猪口などは、表と裏とがまったく異なる図柄で、まさに「からくり箱」にも似た楽しさを宴席にもたらしただろう。縁の裏側はチェーンステッチみたいな輪繋ぎ文様で、伝統的な四方襷とは異なっている。おそらく18世紀末頃の作品ではないかとおもう。

Drawn on this nozoki-type small cup are lion with color glazes on one side and landscape with blue glaze on the other side. I think that nozoki in the Edo period was a special tableware in the sense that guests anticipated what nozoki would be used in a banquet. Unique two-sided design of this small cup would be enough for guests to enjoy the dish. A chain-stitch pattern at the inner side of the rim is different to more common diamond pattern, which implies that this cup was made in the late Edo period.

左は以前紹介したのぞき猪口。ともに図柄のセンスが独特で、おもしろい。

以前紹介した猪口で似た図柄のものがある。まず山水図が染付部分に関してはほとんどおなじ。縁裏の輪繋ぎ文様や、梅の花を上下に割って並べたような裾文様も共通で、おそらく製作年代や工房（職人）もおなじだろう。
