松竹梅文 芽猪口 Pine-bamboo-plum Pattern

三方にそれぞれ松竹梅の文様を描いた小猪口。薄造りで、なかなか上手の作品である。裏銘は渦福。コロナがはやる前に東京・有楽町で不定期開催されている大江戸骨董市で手に入れた。

そば猪口をぎゅっと小さくしたようなこの様式の器は芽猪口とか姫猪口とよばれる。当時どのような用途にもちいられたのか定かではないが、おそらくのぞき猪口と同様に刺し身のつけ汁やちょっとした珍味いれとしてつかわれたのだろう。

A small cup with three drawings of pine tree, bamboo, and plum tree (sho-chiku-bai). This is a small version of soba choko, which would be used as a container for sashimi sauce like nozoki choko. This type of small Imari cups is often called me choko (a sprout cup) or hime choko (a princess cup).
