神岡の灰鉄輝石 Hedenbergite from Kamioka

深緑色の柱状結晶が多数平行連晶する。キラキラした魚眼石と石英が上からふりかかり、端正な結晶面をみせる黒光りする珪灰鉄鉱も何粒かつく。灰鉄輝石も珪灰鉄鉱も、カルシウムと鉄を含んだケイ酸塩鉱物で、スカルン鉱物としてはありふれたものだが、このような造形美をみせる標本はまれだろう。ネットで画像検索しても、わが日本の神岡産の標本は、世界に出してもはずかしくないレベルにあるとおもう。

Dark green columnar hedenbergite crystals grow in parallel with sparkling apophyllite and quartz and small black lustrous ilvaite. Hedenbergite and ilvaite are both common skarn minerals, but well-formed crystals like this would not be common. I guess Kamioka is one of the world-class hedenbergite locality.
