マダンの方鉛鉱 Galena from Madan

一辺 15 mm ほどの方鉛鉱の六面体結晶が３個，緑泥石を主体とする母岩に着生する。針水晶，閃亜鉛鉱，黄銅鉱をともなう。写真の左上のやつは，結晶の一面がちょっとへこんでいるが，これは骸晶のようなものだろう。他の２個は，単純な六面体ではなく，２つの結晶が組み合わさった形（双晶？）をしている。いずれにしても，これら方鉛鉱は表面がつるつるしていて，立派なものだ。

新宿でやってる東京国際ミネラルフェアで，ブルガリアの業者から手に入れた。この業者はたぶん年２回（かもっと）日本のミネラルショーに来ているが，わたしが見たここ２回ほど，新しい標本をたくさん陳列している。業者のストックのほかに，新産もかなりあるようだ。こうした金属鉱物の標本をいまなお産出しているマダン地域というのは貴重である。

Three cubic galena crystals of 15 mm in width grow on a chloritic host rock with needle quartz, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite. One of them has a surface that is sunken a little. The other two are not simple cubes, but presumably two cubes penetrate. All these galena are lustrous. I found this specimen at a booth of Bulgarian Minerals and Gems in Tokyo International Mineral Fair.
