竜文猪口二種 Dragons

どちらも竜をモチーフにした古伊万里の猪口である。一つは染付で、タツノオトシゴのような骨ばった体をした竜が炎を吹きながら空を飛んでいる。怖い顔をしているが、どこか滑稽な感じがする。
Both are old Imari cups with a motif of dragon. One is a blue-and-white cup of a bony dragon blowing fire in the sky. The face is scary but the whole body looks humorous.
もう一つは白磁の猪口で、陰刻の単純な線で竜二頭と雲とを描いている。マンガチックでかわいらしい。童話に出てくる純朴な竜、といった感じである。白磁の陰刻の器は、古九谷の時代からしばしばつくられており、オシャレなものが比較的多いようにおもう。食器としてつかう分には、料理をじゃましないので、たいへん使いやすいものである。
Another is white porcelain. Two dragons are expressed as simple sunk relief. It is like a gentle and honest dragon in a fairy tale. Such white Imari ware has been made since 17th century Ko-Kutani, and seems to generally have good taste.
