ヤオガンシャンの硫砒鉄鉱 Arsenopyrite from Yaogangxian

ほぼ硫砒鉄鉱（毒砂）からなる鉱片。やすりか、歯車の歯か、はたまたフィギュアのスケート靴のつま先か、といったギザギザが特徴的だが（英語圏では「にわとりのトサカ」と形容するらしい）、これは m(110) と u(012) からなる結晶が a 軸方向にほぼ一定間隔で平行連晶したもの。この標本に出ている硫砒鉄鉱の全部が全部こういう連晶をなしているのがおもしろい。なにがなんでもそういうふうになりたい晶出環境だったのだろう。
A small piece of almost pure arsenopyrite. Every crystal looks like cock's comb, which is caused by parallel intergrowth along the a-axis of crystals defined by m(110) and u(012) surfaces.
先月のホリミネラロジーの即売会で入手した。ヤオガンシャン鉱山は多種多様で美麗な標本を供給するという点でおそらくもっとも著名な中国の鉱物産地とおもわれるが、その即売会でも蛍石や車骨鉱などの標本がたくさん売られていた。ヤオガンシャンは鉱脈型とスカルン型とが複合するタングステン・錫鉱床、だそうだ。日本でいったら茨城県高取鉱山とか京都府大谷鉱山なんかと埼玉県秩父鉱山とがミックスしたような産地、といったところだろうか。
Acquired at a sale of Hori Mineralogy last month. Yaogangxian is presumably the best known mineral locality in China. There were beautiful fluorite and bournonite specimens at the Hori's sale. The deposits in Yaogangxian are of composite type of hydrothermal vein and skarn. It may be a mixture of Takatori (Ibaraki), Otani (Kyoto), and Chichibu (Saitama) in Japan.
