大相撲初場所中日 Grand Sumo Tournament Day 8
大相撲初場所中日を自由席で観戦。写真は逸ノ城と錦木の一戦。場所前半を盛り上げた両者だったが、やや失速気味か。 I watched the 8th day of Grand Sumo. Ichinojo and Nishikigi's fights made the beginning of the tournament interesting, but they seem to be stalling.
朝６時すぎに国技館前に着き、整理券は 200 番台後半だった。この日は天覧相撲で、客の入りはいつもより多かったかもしれない。 It was about six in the morning when I arrived at Ryogoku Kokugikan, and my position was about 250th in the queue for the ticket.
相撲をご覧になる天皇皇后両陛下。二大関が敗れるなか、やはり結びをちゃんとしめてくれるのは白鵬しかいない。本当に白鵬がいなかったら、ひとり横綱の時代もふくめて、相撲界はどうなっていたか。。。 Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress came to watch sumo that day, so there were more visitors than usual. Two Ozeki's were defeated, but Yokozuna Hakuho won to close the formal day.
十両の豪風は、蒼国来の変化の前にあっさり敗れる。変化あるんじゃないかな、と思っていたら、そのとおりになってしまって残念。ただ蒼国来もここで負けたら 2 勝 6 敗で幕下陥落が近づくわけだから、必死だったんだろう。豪風はきょう負け越して、十両残留がかなり厳しくなってしまった。がんばれ、豪風。 Takekaze was defeated by Sokokurai by the change of his position at the very begining of the match. It became very hard for Takekaze to keep his Juryo position.
あと今場所から晴れて力士になった若者たちの紹介の儀式、新序出世披露もおこなわれた。けっこうたくさんいた。相撲の伝統も、改めるところは改めつつ、こういう若い力士の活躍で、末永くつづいてもらいたいものだ。 These youngsters became the Grand Sumo wrestlers from that day.
追記（2019年1月22日）、
きょう豪風が引退を表明。通算 100 場所、関取で 98 場所つとめたそうだ。郷土力士だから肩をもつわけでないが、印象にのこる力士だった。背の低さを生かして、長身の大関・琴欧洲を負かした取り組みなどが印象に残る。いまの貴景勝なんか、ひょっとすると豪風の相撲を参考にしてるかも。ともかく、おつかれさまでした。いつも巡業でいっしょにいる隠岐の海もさびしがってるかな。。。
